Privacy notice
Effective November 1, 2026. Markvero is a paper-checking service for educators. Upload only papers you are authorized to process, and remove student names and other identifying details wherever possible.
What we store
We store your name, email, password hash, account verification status, session information, credit balance, uploaded papers, grading instructions, AI results, and review changes. We also keep transaction and audit records to operate the service and resolve issues.
How papers are processed
When you submit a paper for checking, the answer sheet and any supplied question paper or mark scheme are sent to OpenAI through its API. AI responses are requested with response storage disabled. OpenAI’s own processing and security retention policies still apply; this does not promise zero retention by the provider. Avoid including sensitive personal information that is not needed to grade the paper.
Who can access your information
Files and results require authentication and are restricted to your account, with operational access for authorized administrators where needed to manage the service. Payment checkout is handled by the configured payment provider. Markvero does not receive or store your full card details. Verification and reset emails are delivered through the configured email service.
Retention and deletion
Uploaded files and results are automatically removed after 30 days under the current service setting. You can delete a paper from its results page or delete your account from account settings. Account deletion removes your profile and paper files. Minimal transaction records, operational audit events, and hashed identifiers used to prevent repeated free-trial claims may remain. These retained records do not include your original answer sheets.
Preventing free-trial abuse
The starter allowance is offered once per person. Canonical email identifiers and limited device and network signals are used to limit duplicate claims. Deleting an account and signing up again does not restore the allowance. Security rate limits help protect sign-in, uploads, and verification.
Cookies and security
Essential cookies keep you signed in and support abuse prevention. Passwords are stored as hashes, and session cookies are inaccessible to page scripts. Secret service credentials stay on the server. No system can promise absolute security, so avoid uploading unnecessary sensitive information.
Your responsibilities
Use the service in line with your institution’s student privacy rules and applicable requirements. If you are a student, use it only with the permission required by your school or guardian. The service is designed to support educators, and AI output requires human review before it affects a learner.
